About this hardwood
Where a river meets the sea.
Where river town intersects Victoriana. On the northwest edge of Oregon, at a spot where the Columbia River meets the sea, lies Astoria. A place seemingly plucked from the pages of a storybook. Up from its scenic river walks, high above the thriving brewpub culture, quaint Victorian-era houses cling to the hillsides overlooking the town; and the ocean in the distance. We have captured this feeling of refined history and river-side sun-bleached driftwood, in a warm, light-grey engineered European Oak. And fittingly named it after the place that inspired it.
Delightfully Warm
Fuming or smoking is a wood finishing process which is used to make hardwood flooring darker and stress the grain pattern. Ammonia fumes react with the flooring to produce a wide range of deep, warm, brown tones. Its hue and darkness depend upon the amount of tannin's within the natural fibers of the wood. The result is a unique look and variation that you will only find in real wood flooring, and never in a printed LVT vinyl floor. We love the smoked oak floor look so much we made three distinct colors to choose from: Hayden (a nice light tan), Teton (a perfect dark brown), and Tahoe—which sits right in between the other two.
